Ballenberg

Ballenberg might be called a “Swiss Disneyland”, but with a special difference: it’s all real. It’s a large open-air museum featuring more than 100 buildings that have been resettled there from all over Switzerland. Each one has a particular history and special value, and each was carefully disassembled and reassembled. You might say it’s Switzerland in microcosm.

In addition to the buildings themselves, there are live exhibitions of traditional crafts, as well as restaurants serving traditional specialties.

If you don’t want to dine in a restaurant, bring your own things for an outdoor barbecue or picnic.

Located just outside the village of Brienz on the lake of the same name in the Bernese Oberland not far from Interlaken, Ballenberg is a family-friendly attraction, easily accessible by car or public transport.
