The Ovaltine Story

In 1904, Albert Wander of Bern, Switzerland decided to do something to combat malnutrition – a widespread problem at that time. The result was a product called “Ovaltine” – known in some countries, including Switzerland, as “Ovomaltine”. It was a powder made of eggs, malt extract, and cocoa that could be mixed with milk.

Ovaltine is still around and sold in some 100 countries. Its recipe has hardly changed, and is still based on pure, natural ingredients. This is the story of an original Swiss product that is so much at home in other countries that many people don’t even know it’s Swiss!
