Hiking in Switzerland

The Swiss are a nation of nature-lovers. So it’s no coincidence that Switzerland boasts a dense network of excellent hiking and walking trails – more than 65,000 kilometers in all! This is a hiker’s paradise, where you’ll find all kinds of beautiful hiking itineraries and for all levels of fitness and equipment. The Swiss Hiking Federation is the national umbrella organization responsible for maintaining the quality and safety of Switzerland’s trails, all of which are well-marked, and even feature projected walking times. It goes without saying that local tourist offices will be glad to provide more specific information about their region.

Swiss journalist Marcel Grandjean has worked with the Swiss Hiking Federation and is well informed about this favorite Swiss sport. Bob Zanotti had a chat with him.
